We had a great time out in California and unfortunately all good things have to come to an end. We had to get back so that Josh could get to work or else we would have stayed forever. We enjoyed all the activities, shopping & dental work that I (Josh was suppose to get a cavity filled too, but when they took x-rays again they noticed that he didn't have a cavity... lucky him) got done. And of course we enjoyed see everyone that we always miss so much living so far away. So here is the crazy story of flying home... well part crazy.
We had to catch the 6:30am flight out of Sacramento to be able to catch the flight home from Denver. That morning we BARELY caught the 6:30 flight since they had to scan EVERY SINGLE jar of baby food that we had separately and VERY SLOWLY. (and I had 3 days worth of food, just in case we got stuck). So once they finally finished, Josh had taken the kids to the gate and I ran down to the gate just in time for them to let me on and shut the door behind me. We lucked out to all be able to sit next to each other again.
Once in Denver we weren't sure if we were going to make the flight since when we were checking the flights and the flight was over booked by 2. We had Mom on standby just in case we needed her to get onto hotwire and get us a rental car so we could drive to Josh's brother's house. Once we got to the gate the gate agent informed us that there were 3 people that had missed their flight the day before that would be ahead of us on the stand by list. So we waited it out and when it came time to board they informed us that they only had 3 seats available. Which we had played this scenario out before hand and knew that we would send Josh and Bryson home and Megan, Connor and I would stay and go to Uncle Matt's house.
So Josh & Bryson got on and I called Mom to get our rental car scheduled. Once we got our car we were headed off to Uncle Matt's. We arrived just after 2pm and had the rest of the day to play. It was really nice to see their new home and to see Matt, Stacie, Brayden & Andrew. Megan enjoyed playing games with the boys, Connor enjoyed climbing their stairs and getting into all the stuff he shouldn't, and I enjoyed chatting and catching up with Matt & Stacie. It's hard living so far away. The only thing that I was bummed about was that Josh and I didn't plan ahead and make sure that I had the camera before he got on the plane. So we didn't get any pictures of our time with them, unfortunately. After a relaxing day and a delicious dinner, we got some much needed sleep. Connor and I slept in the same room and Megan slept with her cousins after watching a movie.
The next morning we were off by 8:30am not knowing if we were going to be back. But we said our good-byes and headed back to the airport. It always is so much fun taking kids and babies through the security lines and waiting for a flight that you don't know if you are going to make. (lol) But luckily we only had to do it one more time since we were able to get on the flight (even though it was over booked by 3). We were able to make it home safely and we are SO GRATEFUL for everyones help. Thanks to Mom for getting the rental car, thanks to Matt & Stacie for hosting us for a day, thanks to Tiffany and Ryan for letting us use the buddy passes & for taking care of Josh and Bryson when they came home. It's nice to be home. THANKS!
